Our interdisciplinary team, which consists of registered nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, nutritionists, child life specialists, and social workers, as well as physical, occupational, and speech therapists and other medical professionals, works closely with each patient to determine the optimal treatment plan for his or her specific condition. Specifically, our pediatric intensive care unit provides care treatment for:

- Nephrology and kidney transplants
- Neurology
- Neurosurgery
- Hematology oncology
- Metabolic disorders
- General surgery
- Orthopedic surgery
Our pediatric intensive care center is just one of the few statewide programs that provides continuous renal replacement therapies (CRRT). We also provide hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis to inpatients and outpatients. Additionally, our unit is just one of only two pediatric ICUs in Florida, and one of only 13 units nationwide, that has been awarded the Silver Beacon Award for Excellence by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, which speaks to their exceptional level of care and improved outcome rates. Through our innovative approach to treatment, advanced technologies such as frequency ventilations, and highly individualized care, we are able to adequately address the special needs of critically injured and ill pediatric patients.
