For nurses, Tampa General Hospital is more than just a place to work. It’s a place to grow professionally and clinically. It’s a hospital system unlike any other, where nurses who consistently provide patient-centered, holistic care and who go above and beyond to grow their skill sets are recognized and championed. Here, nurses are supported with robust resources, including an injury prevention team, shared governance council and continuing education and certification opportunities. But most importantly, nurses at TGH are a family.

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of this family, Tampa General Hospital has achieved ANCC Magnet Recognition® for a fifth time by the American Nurses Credentialing Center for excellence in nursing. Magnet® designation recognizes hospitals that demonstrate excellence in nursing philosophy and practices, adherence to national standards for improving patient care, leadership and sensitivity to cultural and ethnic diversity. More impressively, TGH is among just 2% of facilities in the country to have achieved Magnet® designation five times.

Nursing is more than what is learned in school—a variety of hands-on experiences and training must shape and mold a nurse into a world-class provider. For this reason, TGH proudly offers an inclusive residency program and specialty-specific rotation or transition programs, and we are home to one of four civilian hospitals that train Air Force nurses who are then deployed around the world.

Our programs are designed to help nurses move from the educational environment into clinical practice. This allows our nurses to increase their skills and knowledge while honing in on career paths. As a result, our programs help nurses become excellent providers of world-class care to TGH patients.

TGH nurses enjoy a variety of benefits that go beyond what the organization offers. From tuition payment and reimbursement, career mapping and succession planning, to certification assistance and even financial reward systems, our nurses are continually supported and recognized for their professional development. In addition, many of our nurses become adjunct faculty at local universities or serve as preceptors and mentors to nursing students.

Thanks to the nursing division’s organizational structure, close to three thousand nursing professionals have become part of the esteemed Tampa General Hospital family and the amazing work of our nursing team is always in the spotlight. Ready to join us?
