Brain Health Services

Brain health services at TGH include, but are not limited to:

Neuropsychology

Neuropsychology is a branch of psychology that focuses on how the brain and nervous system affect a person’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Neuropsychologists study how brain injuries, diseases, or developmental disorders impact cognitive functions like memory, attention, language, and problem-solving. They use assessments and therapies tailored to individual needs to help patients understand and manage their cognitive difficulties, improve brain function, and enhance overall quality of life.

Psychology

Psychology is a field that helps people understand and cope with their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Psychologists work with individuals to improve mental health, manage stress, overcome challenges, and enhance overall well-being. They use various approaches such as talk therapy, counseling, and behavioral techniques to help clients lead happier, healthier lives.

Psychopharmacology

Psychiatrists are doctors who assess, diagnose, and provide treatment for a wide range of mental and emotional issues. They use various approaches such as therapy and medication to help individuals manage conditions like depression, anxiety and more.

Rehabilitation Medicine (PM&R)

PM&R is a medical specialty that helps people who have difficulties moving or doing everyday activities because of injuries, disabilities, or other physical problems. Physiatrists use various treatments like exercises, therapy, and medications to help patients get better and improve their ability to do things on their own.

Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy

Physical therapy helps people improve their movement and function when they have difficulties due to injury, illness, or disability. Physical therapists work with patients to reduce pain, restore strength, and improve overall physical performance. They use exercises and stretches to create personalized treatment plans that help patients recover and achieve their physical goals.

Vestibular Physical Therapy

Vestibular therapy is a specialized form of physical therapy that focuses on treating balance and dizziness disorders related to the vestibular system in the inner ear. Vestibular therapists work with patients who experience symptoms like vertigo, dizziness, imbalance and more. They use specific exercises and techniques to help patients regain their ability to move confidently and comfortably in their daily lives.

Speech Therapy

A speech therapist helps people improve their speech, language, cognitive, communication, and swallowing disorders skills. Speech Therapy helps people improve their ability to speak, understand, and communicate better. Speech therapy also works on memory strategies to improve daily function.

Wellness

Wellness services encompass a holistic approach to health, integrating various aspects of wellbeing. This may include meeting with a fitness specialist for personalized exercise guidance, consulting with a registered dietitian, and engaging in mindfulness activities like meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises.
