Tampa, FL (Jan. 22, 2025) – To empower individuals to make healthy lifestyle choices, foster social connections and create a foundation for long-term well-being, Tampa General Hospital (TGH) has launched an enhanced TampaWell wellness application. Developers and health care practitioners designed the TampaWell platform to support the entire community, including those most at-risk, by addressing underlying social factors that impact health. Tampa General partnered with platform developer VillageWell to relaunch the digital platform.
“With the start of the new year, now is a great time to engage the residents of Tampa Bay with interesting, fun programs that can improve their overall health and wellness,” said Rachel Bozich, MHA, MS, CWP, LSSGB, Assistant Director, Community Wellness at Tampa General. “The new TampaWell app focuses on encouraging users to take simple, incremental actions that become healthy habits over time. The platform is accessible, easy to use and designed to encourage individuals at any stage of their wellness journey.”
TampaWell, activated by Tampa General Hospital, in partnership with the City of Tampa, is a revolutionary health and wellness initiative with the goal of making Tampa the ultimate wellness destination in the United States. The new TampaWell app provides personalized event suggestions based on users’ locations, customized content based on users’ interests and interactive health challenges that integrate point systems and rewards to increase engagement and motivation. The free application is designed to reach all demographics, including older adults and those at higher risk of social isolation and chronic health issues.
The TampaWell platform includes a self-publishing website that allows TampaWell partners and local organizations to share content and event information aligning with the mission of the platform, which focuses on two major wellness objectives:
- Combatting loneliness by establishing and nurturing connections among community members of all ages, targeting all individuals seeking more social interaction.
- Emphasizing preventative health programs through educational resources on nutrition, mental health and fitness, encouraging users to adopt healthier lifestyle habits.
“The TampaWell app is a community-building tool that fosters wellness through inclusivity, accessibility and small, achievable health goals,” said Kim Christine, Administrator, Community Health and Wellness at Tampa General. “It’s designed to help the Tampa Bay community embrace wellness and reduce barriers to lifestyle changes that promote healthy choices.”
