Muma Children’s Hospital at TGH Completes First Phase of Pediatric Renovations

Muma Children’s Hospital at TGH celebrated the first phase of a revitalized space for exceptional pediatric care.

 

 

Tampa, FL (Oct. 21, 2024) – Muma Children’s Hospital at Tampa General Hospital (TGH) has completed the first construction phase of its new pediatric space. The renovations kick off the comprehensive transformation of the inpatient pediatric areas to match the high-level of quality care provided at Muma Children’s Hospital.

The newly revitalized space will feature:

 

  • Updated Patient Rooms and Waiting Areas: Every patient room and waiting area has been thoughtfully redesigned to ensure comfort, privacy and a welcoming atmosphere for young patients and their families.
  • Renovated Nurses’ Stations and Lounges: The dedicated nursing staff will benefit from modernized stations designed to streamline their work and further enhance their ability to provide exceptional care.
  • Refreshed Children's Playroom: A newly remodeled playroom, opening in 2025, offers a vibrant and engaging environment where children can enjoy a much-needed break from treatment, promoting both joy and recovery.
  • Remodeled Physical and Occupational Therapy Gyms: State-of-the-art therapy facilities have been created to support the rehabilitation and recovery process, providing the latest in therapeutic equipment in a supportive atmosphere.
  • Open Collaboration Space: An innovative collaboration area has been designed to foster greater interaction and teamwork among physicians and health care team members, enhancing coordination and quality of care.
  • Advanced Technology and Innovation: The facility is equipped with cutting-edge technology to support current and future advances in pediatric care, ensuring that Muma Children’s Hospital remains at the forefront of medical innovation. 

“We are thrilled with the healing, therapeutic environment achieved in Phase 1,” said Dr. Patricia Emmanuel, medical chief of the Muma Children’s Hospital at TGH, Lewis A Barness Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics for the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine. “We set a high standard for excellence in pediatric health care and this space aligns with this standard. As an academic health system, TGH and USF Health are deeply invested in the health and well-being of our youngest patients.”

 

The pediatric dialysis, child life spaces and day hospital will also undergo renovations over the next year. There are two more phases of the renovation, with construction scheduled to be complete by Fall/Winter 2025.

 

The Muma Children’s Hospital recently installed a new sign on the exterior of the TGH campus, marking a milestone in the hospital’s journey of providing excellence in pediatric health care, further symbolizing the commitment to the community, our team members and the Muma family.
