Tampa General Hospital and Kitson & Partners Invite Community Input as TGH Expands Presence in Babcock Ranch

TGH Urgent Care expected to open in 2025 bringing one of the nation’s leading academic health systems to Southwest Florida; additional space leased to focus on community health needs.

Tampa, FL (June 20, 2024) – With construction of the new 6,500 square foot TGH Urgent Care at Babcock Ranch now well underway, Tampa General Hospital (TGH) and Kitson & Partners have agreed to nearly double Tampa General’s presence at The Shoppes at Yellow Pine by adding an additional 6,000 square feet of space to expand service offerings and meet the health care needs of the community. To hear more about the expansion, TGH and Kitson & Partners are inviting Babcock Ranch residents to a community forum luncheon on June 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Babcock Ranch Fieldhouse. This event provides an opportunity to share insights into the community’s health care needs and discuss ways to enhance health and wellness at Babcock Ranch.

“We’re excited to bring Tampa General’s world-class care to Babcock Ranch,” said Tampa General Hospital Executive Vice President and Chief Ambulatory Officer Adam Smith. “What we’re building is more than a center that can treat common illness and injuries; it’s a destination for health and wellness. Working with the community's residents, we can more effectively design the space and service offerings to meet their needs.”

Tampa General announced in November its partnership with Kitson & Partners to bring urgent care services to The Shoppes at Yellow Pine on Cypress Parkway.

TGH Urgent Care is expected to open in 2025 and will treat common illnesses and injuries and offer common lab tests, check-ups and procedures. It will also provide community residents with access to occupational health services such as pre-employment screenings, employment physicals, injury care for workers’ compensation, and vaccinations.

New plans for the additional 6,000 square feet of TGH-leased space in Babcock Ranch will center on providing service offerings customized to community health care needs. Through research, community outreach and events, such as the community forum luncheon on June 22, Tampa General is inviting input from Babcock Ranch residents. Based on its findings and input from residents, it will develop innovative solutions that help meet the community’s needs today and support its future growth for the newly secured space.

“Health and wellness is one of our core initiatives at Babcock Ranch and we strongly believe residents should have input on the level and style of care offerings provided,” said Thomas Hoban, President and Chief Investment Officer at Kitson & Partners. “True sustainability encompasses environmental and social factors, so providing all the necessary services that our homeowners need right here at Babcock Ranch, including world-class health care, is critical to our community. We are excited that our partner, TGH, is expanding their footprint to include even more health and wellness options, and that our homeowners will have a seat at the table to help determine which services are most important to them.”

Babcock Ranch is America’s first solar-powered town. Ranked as the nation’s 7th best-selling master-planned community in 2023 and encompassing 18,000 acres, Babcock Ranch is planned for 19,500 residences and 6,000,000 square feet of commercial space. Created by Kitson & Partners with the philosophy that smart growth and sustainability work hand in hand, half of the community’s footprint is set aside as greenways, parks and expansive lakes, providing recreation and scenic backdrops for Babcock Ranch’s homes and the Founder’s Square downtown district.
