Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Re-appoints Tampa General Hospital Leader to State Board of Pharmacy

Tampa, FL (March 23, 2023) – Tampa General Hospital (TGH) Director of Pharmacy Maja Gift has been re-appointed to the Florida Board of Pharmacy by Governor Ron DeSantis. Her appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

Maja is a true leader in her field and a critical component in our ability to provide the safest and most effective treatment to our patients. Gift earned her bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of Utah, finished her residency at Children’s Hospital National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and completed the Executive Management Program for Pharmacy Leaders at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School in Philadelphia. She also holds a master’s degree in health care administration from Ohio University in Athens. In addition to her role on the Florida Board of Pharmacy, Gift currently serves as an advisory board member for the University of South Florida Taneja College of Pharmacy.

The Florida Board of Pharmacy was legislatively established to ensure that every pharmacist practicing in this state and every pharmacy meet minimum requirements for safe practice. The Florida Board of Pharmacy is responsible for the licensure, monitoring and education of Pharmacy professionals to assure competency and safety to practice in their service to the people of Florida.
In addition to Gift, other Tampa General leaders appointed by the Governor to serve on state boards are Nicole Justice, senior director of Patient Safety, appointed to the Florida Board of Medicine in 2022, and Dr. Seema Weinstein, manager of Psychology and Neuropsychology, to the Florida Board of Psychology in 2020.
