Birth Preference

At Tampa General Hospital, we believe every birth experience should be as personalized and comfortable as possible. That's why we encourage you to create a Birth Preference (Birth Plan) to guide your labor and delivery journey. This plan helps communicate your choices before, during, and after birth, ensuring our care aligns with your wishes and needs. We offer a Birth Preference sheet as a helpful guide to support these conversations with your healthcare provider. Whether you prefer a medicated or unmedicated birth, the desire to have a support person or doula by your side, or wish to eat and drink during labor, we want you to feel informed and empowered in your decisions.

Our delivery rooms are thoughtfully equipped with birthing balls, mirrors, squat bars, and educational tools to enhance your comfort and experience. We also offer other options like skin-to-skin contact, delayed cord clamping, and flexible monitoring choices for low-risk deliveries. While your birth plan is a valuable tool for expressing your preferences, we also encourage flexibility to ensure the safest experience for both you and your baby. We are honored to be part of this special moment and look forward to supporting you every step of the way.
