About Scott Arnold
Scott Arnold is the Executive Vice President and Chief Digital and Innovation Officer at the Florida Health Sciences Center (FHSC), which comprises an array of organizations, including Tampa General Hospital, one of the nation’s leading not-for-profit academic health systems, in partnership with the University of South Florida.
In his role, Arnold oversees technology, cyber security, analytics, clinical engineering and TGH Ventures – Tampa General’s venture capital arm and innovation team. He pushes the advancement of Tampa General’s digital systems to position the academic health system as a leader in innovation.
At Tampa General, Arnold has led the implementation of information systems across the organization to ensure safety, consistency and excellent technology systems for patients, providers and team members. He joined Tampa General Hospital in 2010 to manage the conversion of its electronic medical record system — the largest technology implementation in the hospital’s history.
Arnold has earned national recognition for his efforts to drive innovation and technological advancement at Tampa General, including being named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of “Hospital and Health System Chief Innovation Officers to Know” in 2024 and 2023. He was also named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s “CIOs to Know” list in 2023 while serving in his former role as Tampa General’s Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer.
Tampa General has earned several awards for health information technology throughout Arnold’s tenure with the academic health system, including the prestigious “HIMSS Stage 7” award three times from Hospital and Health Networks’ “Most Wired – Advanced” recognition (11 times) and has been rated one of the “Best Hospital IT Departments” (over 200 personnel) by Healthcare IT News.
Prior to joining Tampa General, Arnold served as a vice president for Mercy Health in Saint Louis, Missouri, and held leadership positions with Daleen Technologies, Boeing and McDonnell Douglas Aerospace. Scott serves on the board of directors for the Humane Society of Tampa Bay and holds board positions in several FHSC entities.
Arnold earned a master’s degree from Washington University’s School of Engineering, a master’s degree from Webster University’s School of Business and Technology, a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University’s College of Applied Science and he’s accredited by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) as a Certified Healthcare CIO (CHCIO) and Certified Digital Health – Executive (CDH-E). A leader in his field, Arnold presents technology innovation and information technology in health care at leading national conferences and is a regular article contributor to the Wall Street Journal and several other national publications.
