The Tampa General Hospital Bariatric Surgery team manages some of the most challenging cases - from surgery to medical management to endoscopy - with optimal outcomes. This includes working with obese patients with end-stage heart, kidney or liver disease whose weight would otherwise exclude them from transplantation.

TGH’s Hernia Center offers the newest approaches to open laparoscopic and robotic surgery for all types of hernias, including the most complex. TGH surgeons perform 80-85% of all hernia surgeries using minimally invasive techniques, and 95% of patients are released on the same day.

Through collaboration with USF Health, TGH is working with pioneers investigating machine learning models to study the acoustic features of voice and detect cues that can predict conditions such as throat cancers, neurological disorders and even depression.

The two surgeons bring a combined 25 years of global expertise in parathyroid disease to the treatment of patients at TGH Over the past decade, they have performed more than 13,000 parathyroid operations, more than any other two surgeons in the world.

The Lung Cancer Center of Excellence within Tampa General Hospital’s Cancer Institute is nationally recognized, with lung cancer outcomes that exceed national averages. From April 2020 and March 2021, Tampa General performed more high acuity lung cancer surgeries than any other hospital in the state.

TGH and USF Health physicians have initiated one of the nation’s premier sinus tissue biobanks. Funded by the NIH, the tissue bank is supporting cutting-edge research into the causes of chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps.
