All Forms of Childhood Cancer Are Treated at Tampa General Hospital’s Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Program
Tampa General Hospital’s Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Program provides individualized care for childhood cancer patients. Our pediatric cancer program offers a comprehensive range of hematology and oncology services for patients up to the age of 21 who have been diagnosed with solid tumors, cancers of the blood or bone marrow, congenital immune system deficiencies, and other hematologic conditions such as anemia, hemophilia, and bone marrow failure. Medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, hematologists, and other experienced medical professionals all contribute to our pediatric hematology/oncology program.
TGH offers a broad range of leading-edge treatments. These services are provided in a unique environment that’s specifically tailored to the needs of younger individuals. For instance, our nonsurgical pediatric cancer treatments, including chemotherapy infusions and radiation therapy, are provided at our child-friendly Day Hospital. Patients with noncancerous conditions can also receive blood/blood product transfusions, hemophilia factor infusions, and other related treatments at this location.
Additionally, our Children’s Medical Center is a member of the Children’s Oncology Group, which is the world’s largest organization devoted exclusively to pediatric cancer research. USF Health, our partner for pediatric hematology and oncology services, is also a Children’s Oncology Group member. Through our clinical trials, we make it possible for patients to access the newest and most innovative childhood cancer treatments while contributing to the research that has tremendously improved pediatric cancer survival rates over the last 50 years.
Tampa General Hospital’s Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Program’s childhood cancer specialists are ready to provide comprehensive care to pediatric cancer patients.
