TGH Muma Children’s Hospital Child Abuse Prevention Symposium (CAPS) 2024

Location: Valdes Family Auditorium, Tampa General Hospital 

This six-hour virtual and in-person, instructor-led event for multiple disciplines is designed to increase understanding of the pediatric patient suspected of abuse or trafficking. The event will cover various topics: red flags associated with non-accidental trauma, identifying potential victims of pediatric human trafficking and community resources, human trafficking in our already at-risk youth, choosing safe caretakers and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and trauma-informed care for multidisciplinary health care workers. We will also have Derek Clark, nationally recognized motivational speaker, author, and survivor of child abuse to close this year’s symposium. This symposium is being offered for 6 CEUs/CMEs.

Target Audience

This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of child advocacy members, physicians, APPs, nurses, and other health care professionals who care for pediatric child abuse patients.
